Summary

History
Jasper won the TRU New Voices Award in 2018. In the summer of 2019, Yonder Window Theatre Company produced an AEA industry staged reading of Jasper by Grant MacDermott in collaboration with Adelaide Raleigh Productions and Boz and the Bard Productions. The reading featured Abigail Hawk (Blue Bloods), Jessica Pimentel (Orange is the New Black), and Hisham Tawfiq (The Blacklist). The reading generated interest from several producers. In 2020, Grant became Yonder Window's Playwright in Residence.
Venue
THE PERSHING SQUARE SIGNATURE CENTER, the permanent home of Signature Theatre, is a three-theatre facility on West 42nd Street designed by Frank Gehry Architects to host Signature’s three distinct playwrights’ residencies and foster a cultural community. The Center is a major contribution to New York City’s cultural landscape and provides a venue for cultural organizations that supports and encourages collaboration among artists throughout the space. In addition to its three intimate theatres, the Center features a studio theatre, rehearsal studio, a bookstore, and the Signature Café + Bar. Cast & Creative Team
Jasper is written by Grant MacDermott and will be directed by Katie McHugh. The play is produced by Yonder Window Theatre Company & Executive Producer Lisa Dozier. The cast includes Dominic Fumusa (Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie”; Film: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Broadway: Wait Until Dark), Abigail Hawk (TV’s “Blue Bloods”), and Jessica Pimentel (Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black”), the understudies are Justin Adams & Jessica DiGiovanni.
The creative team includes set and costume design by Michael Gianfrancesco; lighting design by Robin A. Paterson; sound design by John Gromada, the intimacy director is Judi Lewis-Ockler and casting is by JZ Casting. The production stage manager is Merrick Williams, production management is FIVE OHM, and LDK Productions is the general manager.

Jasper is the recipient of the TRU New Voices Award, and was a finalist for the Harold Clurman/Stella Adler Award. Other plays include Like A Queen or Whatever (Harold Clurman/Stella Adler Award Winner; Risk Theatre Modern Tragedy Finalist; Lanford Wilson New American Play Semi-Finalist); and An Independent Study on Race and The Brain (Eugene O''Nell Theatre Conference Semi-Finalist; PlayPenn Semi-Finalist). Commissions include Always, Wilde and Everyday Monsters both with The Farm. His short play A Departure was named one of the best plays of 2019. Katie McHugh is an award-winning international theatre director, producer, and educator specializing in devised and experimental theatre and the development of new work. She is the Artistic Director and Founder of Yonder Window Theatre Company, based in New York. Katie holds a BA in Theatre from Florida State University and an MFA in Directing from The New School for Drama. She is the Founding Director of the Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company and Co-Founder of the Teen Shakespeare Conservatory. In 2020, Katie and her team, under the banner of Yonder Window, worked to create Stagepunch.com, a platform for mentoring young artists pursuing a performing arts career. Katie and Grant have developed and worked on over a dozen of Grant’s plays over the 5 years since they first began their collaboration as Director and Writer with Jasper. Dominic Fumusa is best known for playing "Kevin Peyton" opposite Edie Falco on Showtime's acclaimed show "Nurse Jackie" which ran for seven seasons from 2009-2015. Fumusa's film work includes playing the real life hero John "Tig" Tiegen in "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi" directed by Michael Bay. Fumusa appeared opposite Will Smith and Margot Robbie in the romantic comedy "Focus." Other film work includes "The Report," "Allegiance," "Helena from the Wedding," "Management" and "Little New York." Additional television work includes major season-long arcs on "Homeland," "Godfather of Harlem," "Divorce," "Goliath," and "The Purge," as well as guest starring roles on "Damages," "Sex and the City," "The Sopranos," and many others. Fumusa can be seen this fall on Apple TV's "Echo 3" written and directed by Mark Boal. Fumusa's extensive stage experience includes originating roles in the New York premieres of Sarah Ruhl's plays "Stage Kiss" and "Passion Play", Richard Greenberg's Tony Award winning "Take Me Out" (NY and London), Melissa James Gibson's Obie Award winning "[sic]" and Stephen Belber's plays "The Power of Duff," "Fault Lines," and "Tape" (NY, London and Los Angeles). His Broadway debut came in the 1998 revival of "Wait Until Dark" opposite Marisa Tomei and Quentin Tarantino. Select regional theater credits include numerous plays at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, the Stratford Festival in Canada, the Huntington Theater in Boston, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and the Humana Festival at the Actors Theater of Louisville.

Abigail Hawk is a New York-based actor, singer, writer, humanitarian, and mom. She began performing theatrically at the age of six and landed her first television role at twelve. Hawk earned a Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship to the University of Maryland, from which she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in theatre performance. Abigail moved to New York City in 2004 and began cultivating an eclectic resume peppered with dynamic female characters.
Abigail has guest-starred on television shows Law and Order: SVU, Body of Proof, The Jim Gaffigan Show, and Are We There Yet? She is most recognizable as Detective Abigail Baker, the unflappable right hand of NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) on CBS’ Blue Bloods. Her work as LGBT icon Dr. Louise Pearce in the television pilot Distemper earned her rave reviews at the 2019 North Fork TV Festival.
Hawk’s film work includes her award-winning performance in film festival favorite Almost Paris and her starring role opposite Chevy Chase in ION Network’s feature A Christmas in Vermont. Catch her in Brother’s Keeper with Laurence Fishburne and as femme fatale Bonnie in The Wrong Path, both streaming now. She completed filming Daruma earlier this year, which features two authentically cast disabled actors in the lead roles, and in which she plays a supporting role and serves as associate producer. Abigail recently returned to the stage in Emmy winner Dorothy Lyman’s haunting new play, In the Bleak Midwinter, off-Broadway in NYC. She was the recipient of the Long Island International Film Expo’s 2019 Creative Achievement Award.
Hawk has sung and played piano at NYC mainstays The Bitter End, CBGB's, and The Duplex. She co-authored The Unofficial Guide to Surviving Pregnancy Without Losing Your Mind, and her poetry is currently featured in online women’s magazine Good Little Girls. She is a Tupelo Press 30/30 Project participant, for which she penned a poem a day. Abigail enjoys working with Habitat for Humanity, Covenant House, ADAPT Community Network, and HeartShare Human Services of New York, who honored her with The Linda Dano Heart Award. She has delivered keynotes across the country on topics ranging from motherhood to the vitality of art in education.
Hawk is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actor's Equity Association. She resides on Long Island with her busy, beautiful family: husband, two sons, two dogs, one cat, one fish, and ever-proliferating sea monkeys.

The Brooklyn born and raised native New Yorker is best known as an actress in her role as Maria Ruiz on the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black, and won 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Some of her theater credits include the American Stage production of the Pulitzer prize winning play 'Anna in the Tropics' and the Shakespeare Theater's production of a 'A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings' adapted by Nilo Cruz. She was also seen in the leading role of Mathilde in the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater's production of 'The Clean House' by Sarah Ruhl and the Seattle Repertory Theater's production of Eduardo Machado's 'The Cook' . In 2008 she originated the role of Lupita in the off Broadway show 'Aliens with Extraordinary Skills' by Romanian playwright Saviana Stanescu. She was also featured as Yessenia in the Clubbed Thumb production of 'Enfrascada' by Tanya Saracho and took on the one woman show 'Surfer Girl' by Leslye Headland. Jessica began playing music at a very young age and has traveled around the world as both a classical violinist and Hardcore/ Heavy Metal musician and has played at various notable venues such as CBGB, Landmark's Mayan Theatre and Carnegie Hall. Jessica is the lead vocalist and recording guitarist for the Brooklyn, NY based heavy metal band Alekhine's Gun and featured vocalist, La Bruja Encabronada, in the iconic heavy music band Brujeria. She is a featured vocalist in projects by 'Black Heart Sutra', 'Brick by Brick' and 'Origin' and her violin playing was featured on the track "Ormen's Offer" by Swedish Electrogoth and Valhall.
